Luce IT drives the future of the autonomous vehicle with the ASVIC project, funded by the CDTI Missions programme

We are very pleased to announce excellent news for the future of mobility and innovation in Spain. Following the publication of the final resolution of the Centre for Technological Development and Innovation (CDTI),

Luce Innovative Technologies has been selected as a recipient of a major grant under the prestigious “Science and Innovation Missions Programme 2024”.

This grant, under the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan and funded by the European Union’s Next Generation EU funds, supports our participation in the ASVIC (Secure Architecture for the Smart and Connected Vehicle) strategic project .

The ASVIC Project: Towards Level 4 Autonomous Driving

The ASVIC project, led by RENAULT, is born with a clear ambition: “toadvance knowledge through an exhaustive and planned research on an advanced and safe architecture for intelligent connected vehicles in environments with limited operational design domains (ODDs) to achieve a level of automation L4“.

In essence, the project aims to lay the foundations for the vehicles of the future: cars capable of operating autonomously and safely in controlled environments, reaching speeds of up to 50 km/h. To this end, ASVIC is part of Challenge 1 of the MISSIONS programme: “Safe driving adapted to new models of electromobility and autonomous vehicles”.

ASVIC is a collaborative project that brings together a consortium of leading technology companies:

  • RENAULT (Leader)
  • FIVECOMM
  • SEEVIA
  • MULTIVERSE COMPUTING
  • SIGMA
  • LUCE IT with the support of AirInstitute.

Luce IT’s role within this consortium will focus on the research and design of on-board vision systems for maintenance and safety, and on the optimisation of on-board software. We will bring our expertise in algorithm creation and software development to enhance the capabilities of tomorrow’s vehicles.

A Strategic Impulse for Valladolid and Castilla y León

Luce IT’s participation in the ASVIC project, together with the leadership of RENAULT and its major R&D&I centre in Valladolid, represents a transformational boost for our region. The expected benefits are manifold:

  • Positioning as a Smart Mobility Hub: Consolidates Valladolid and Castilla y León as a benchmark in the development of technologies for autonomous and connected vehicles.
  • Creation of Qualified Employment: The project will promote the recruitment of profiles specialised in software engineering, artificial intelligence and automotive in the region. RENAULT, for example, plans to hire 5 people specifically for the project.
  • Strengthening the Industrial Fabric: The collaboration between a multinational like RENAULT and innovative technology SMEs like Luce IT creates synergies that strengthen the entire industrial value chain.
  • Improved Safety and Sustainability: Advances in autonomous driving will help reduce traffic accidents and pollutant emissions, improving the quality of life of citizens.
  • International Visibility: The backing of the CDTI and participation in consortiums of this level will facilitate access to future European research programmes, such as Horizon Europe, increasing the visibility of the innovative capacity of Castilla y León.

At Luce IT we are proud to be part of an initiative that will not only generate disruptive technological advances, but will also boost socio-economic development and sustainability in our region.

This project has been subsidised by the CDTI, with the support of the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, in the framework of the “Science and Innovation Missions Programme” within the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.

Funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU.
