PASID: European technology and investment to transform the Spanish countryside
The agri-food sector is the heart of our economy and our culture, but it faces an unavoidable reality: the urgent need to digitize to remain competitive and sustainable. At Luce IT, we are not content with observing this challenge from the sidelines; we have decided to step forward and present our candidacy with an ambitious and necessary solution: PASID (Agrotech Platform for Sustainability and Data Exchange) .
Today we want to share with you what this initiative consists of, designed to break the technological barriers of the primary sector, and how it fits strategically within the European recovery plans we are applying for.
What is PASID and what problem does it solve?
PASID was born from identifying a clear problem: the low digital maturity of the agro sector and the disconnection between the different links in the chain (producers, processors, and distributors). Currently, much valuable information—crop data, weather forecasts, market prices—remains isolated in silos, preventing efficient decision-making.
Our proposal is to create a comprehensive cloud platform (PaaS) that acts as an Agri-food Data Space. The goal is to democratize access to cutting-edge technologies such as Big Data and Artificial Intelligence, allowing everyone from a small cooperative to a large industry to share information in a secure, sovereign, and interoperable way.
Innovation for sustainability: Circular Economy and AI
PASID’s technical proposal is not just a data repository; it is an active tool for business improvement and environmental care:
- Circular Economy Marketplace: A specific module to connect the supply and demand of by-products and waste. What is waste for one producer can be a valuable resource for another (for example, for biomass or animal feed), thus promoting the sector’s real sustainability.
- Market Prediction with AI: A platform that integrates Artificial Intelligence models capable of predicting demand, price evolution, and crop yields. This allows farmers to plan better and reduce uncertainty.
- Intelligent Alert Management: A real-time notification system to warn about pest risks, adverse weather changes, or logistical incidents.
A Strategic Project: Funding and European Framework
The scale of PASID requires a decisive boost, and that is why we have submitted this project to the 2024 Call for the Sectoral Data Spaces Program .
The PASID (Agrotech Platform for Sustainability and Data Exchange) project has been funded by the Ministry for Digital Transformation and the Civil Service, through the Secretary of State for Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence, within the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU .
