  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with Terraform: Terraform facilitates the deployment and management of complex infrastructures in multiple environments (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, VMware, among others). This tool allows us to optimise more than 80% of the time invested in configuring complex architectures and to have a backup and versioning of our infrastructure.
  • Automated Runbooks: Automated runbooks allow us to quickly and reliably configure critical environments in emergency situations. Their combination with Terraform has been key to responding quickly in recovery scenarios.
  • Robotic Process Automation (RPA): RPA handles repetitive, rule-based tasks such as reporting and request processing, eliminating the need for manual intervention.

 

Success Stories: Real Automation Use Cases

To illustrate the positive impact of automation, we share two recent success stories:

  1. Infrastructure Automation with Terraform: The adoption of Terraform as an Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tool has transformed the deployment of complex architectures, optimising the time spent in this process by more than 80%. Previously, deploying test, development and production environments required manual configurations that could take days; now, these deployments are done in a matter of hours

    • Flexibility: Allows infrastructure to be managed across multiple environments and cloud providers with a single tool, simplifying administration.
    • Time and cost savings: Automates repetitive tasks and eliminates the need for manual scripts for temporary deployments.
    • Improved accuracy and consistency: Automated management and versioning of infrastructure reduces the risk of human error.
    • Increased agility: Facilitates rapid and secure change implementation, improving business responsiveness.
  2. Cloud Backup Service: Recently, the servers hosting 18 users’ corporate machines suffered a storage corruption and there were not enough resources in the on-premise cluster to restore them immediately. Thanks to Terraform and pre-configured automated runbooks, we were able to get 18 machines up and running in the cloud with the necessary configurations (network connectivity, domain join, shared folders, among others) in just 90 minutes, reducing service interruption to a minimum.
    Advantages obtained:

    • Reduced unavailability: By quickly providing a backup in the cloud, we managed to reduce equipment downtime by 95%.
    • Reduced manual intervention: Deployment automation reduced manual intervention by 90%, enabling fast and efficient recovery.
